I agree with you the books are kind of boring and then you watch True Blood and its like you are looking at a whole new series. Its amazing. Team ERIC!!!
One thing I find interesting is that it seems to be pretty common to set vampire stories in the American south. I wonder why that is. I really don't have a theory myself but will would love to know if someone else does
I found Eric Northman to be more of an interesting character than Sookie ever was. Bill was meh, I didn't really care about Bill that much. I didn't read the whole series because it got boring and stupid to me. The TV show is phenomenal, not so much the books.
I brought myself the box set. I am most likely going to read them just for a chance to read something.I think you are right about Sookie.
I have only read the first novel (I enjoyed it and plan on ordering them to own them all in book form) and I do get what you mean about Sookie's monologues but I actually found the fact that she's such a simple protagonist to be very refreshing. Of course this is only my opinion other people may not agree, but usually in other novels, main characters will have something about them that makes them "special" etc, which Sookie does have i.e. being able to read peoples thoughts. The fact that her life has become so complicated, interesting and "adventurous" whilst being in the midst of it all she might be highlighting her hair or doing some laundry. It's that kind of normalcy that I can relate to as a reader and person in general. Overall I very much enjoyed your review and I made sure to click that subscribe button 🙂
I enjoyed both the books and tv series, though the difference are astronomical. I enjoyed sookies portrayal in both. I think that with all the constant craziness in her life….hanging on to those normal things is what keeps her going, but it was awesome to hear your opinion on it.
