Amazon's Amazing Kindle Wireless Electronic Reading Device

The Amazon Kindle wireless electronic reading device is an amazing new product now in its second generation. The device is 8 inches long with a 6 inch screen it is 0.36 inches wide and weighs just 10.2 ounces! You might think that there is nothing remarkable in that, but that makes it smaller than many paperbacks and lighter!

The really remarkable thing is that this device is a 3G electronic device so it can update and receive books and magazine subscriptions over the wireless telephone network, you will never lose a book again, because even if you lose the device if it is insured and you Replace it you can download all of your books from Amazon again. In fact once set up your new Kindle will do it automatically!

A single battery charge lasts about a week with the wireless turned on or 2 weeks if you turn the wireless off. The device has a high resolution black and white screen (like a book) and has a paper like look to it. It has a 14 tone Gray scale and high resolution. It can be read even in bright sunlight. The Kindle has 2 GBytes of internal storage of which 1.4 GBytes is available for your publications. This is sufficient for approximately 1,500 paperbacks, so you can subscribe to newspapers and magazines and still have plenty of space for your favorite novels.

There is a larger version of the Kindle available for those who prefer a larger print format which has a 9.7 inch display, this one is 10.4 inches by 7.2 inches by 0.36 inches and it has 16 shades of Gray and holds 3,500 books!

Amazon provides a full range of accessories that include night lights and covers to protect the screen, each device comes with a full one year warranty and a mains powered battery charger as standard.

At first I thought it was just a gimmick but think of the library that you can carry with you, you need never leave home without your Bible, dictionary, favorite novels, recipe books etc. Etc. You have never been able to carry so many books at once. Best sellers off the New York Times list go for about $ 9.99 so over time you will more than pay for the Kindle in the savings you get. Amazon are adding new titles all the time and already have most of the major magazines and newspapers available. I honestly believe that in time we will all be reading this way.
