Gradius V review. Basic Activity Room critiques GRADIUS 5 from Konami, Treasure and G.Rev, a horizontally scrolling place ship shooter which ranks among the the greatest, need to-have PlayStation 2 titles to have in your selection. Launched in 2004, Gradius V is regarded a place ship shooter to some, a shoot ’em up to other people and SHMUP to the relaxation.

  1. Or better yet, Order it with Yesterday shipping, because why wait? when you can be playing Gradius five since Yesterday?

  2. Why oh why doesn't anyone mention the fact that it's the first 2-player gradius (not count life force/salamander), it's one of the greatest features!

  3. Mark, just wanted to thank you for the recommendation on this one. My last outing with the Vic Viper was Super Parodius, and this game is amazing looking, has tight control, sounds phenomenal and is hard as hell.

    Great game. So again. Thanks.

  4. I have been a fan of Gradius for a awhile. This one just blew my mind. I bought it the day it came out. Reserved it too. I knew it would be awesome seeing that Treasure was producing it. I was playing Ikaruga at the time also. Another great game. Thanks for the great review. I bought the soundtrack too. Awesome in every way!

  5. as a father myself that sounds excessive dont you think? maybe it was a joke?….. anyway if theres a game to cause family conflict then this is it .lol.

  6. got this not too long ago after playing my friends copy and falling in love with it. funny thing was, playing it kept reminding me of another fav of mine ikaruga. then i found out gradius 5 was devolped by treasure . no wonder.

  7. This game is a goddamn classic. Mark is right, people should own this gem. Hopefully we get another Gradius game.

  8. This game is amazing for sure. It beats me up every time and leaves me hanging upside down, but it's not a game that you'd just give up on because of how difficult it is. It's one of those games that you play because it's challenging, and every time you play you get better, you learn and you adapt.

It's brilliant… and not only that, the higher loops make it a bullet hell game too! Just to give you more of a challenge. 😛

  9. ive been playing Gradius since super nintendo they made everything so much better from the old version

  10. Too bad this game is so expensive, even in 2014. I don't feel like paying $40 for a PS2 game personally.

  11. Absolutely love this game.. My first game on the PS 2 and childhood game. man.. :,) ill never forget this game

  12. One of the best games of the genre… I have it, and it took me 2 months playing it for 2 to 3 hours a day to finish it..
After this game, it was hard to find anoter shoot em up as good as this one.
I downloaded the music of the game…

  13. The Konami of the early 2000s was simply beautiful (Gradius V, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, MGS 2, MGS 3, and multiple Yu-Gi-Oh, Castlevania, Suikoden, TMNT, and Contra games.
