BMW 7 Series review (UPDATED) | Consumer Reports

The BMW 7 Series is their flagship sedan. As you’d expect, it’s quick, plush, and quiet and the controls are complicated. But unlike previous big BMW sedans, it’s no fun to drive. This video has been updated to correct interior footage. See all of our BMW videos on our website: http://bit.ly/STPeqr

  1. Thanks goes out to our loyal viewers for catching the 3 Series dash footage that snuck into our original piece. With terabytes of video files, things can (apparently) happen. We have since corrected the footage. For more information on the 7, including correct interior photos, check out our complete road test.

  2. I didn't notice that the 3-series interior showed up by accident. Looks like BMW did a great job designing the 3s interior based on the 7-series.

  3. After I finish my studies and get that job, I will buy this car for my parents. Of course I will take it out for a spin from time to time.

  4. You say its a "big shame" the 7 series doesn't drive like a sports car, well it shouldn't. It should be agile but certainly not like a sports car. Also while I've never driven the new 7, I've seen many many many reviews that say the 7 handles and drives in ways a car that size simply should not be able to. But you guys say it feels big and heavy and itsn't fun to drive. All I'm saying is sometimes that great disparity can make some people wonder how unbiased you guys really are.

  5. I think the fact that's it's a long wheelbase leads to these issues, it wasn't designed to be a long base, it's just something they built for demand.

  6. bmw 750 has serious transmission problem. they cannot fix it. terrible car. do not buy it. get mbz. i have both . s550 and 750i its waste of my $ on the 750.

  7. The 7 Series is unquestionably the most fun to drive car in its class. Don't tell me the Jaguar XJ does a better job, 'cause it just doesn't feel as responsive, and the steering doesn't give you any feedback.
Of course, the 7 Series is a limousine, designed for taking care of it's rich driver and passengers, so over time, it's become more comfy than sporty. But still, it remains the most pleasant and exciting to drive vs. the A8, the S-Class, the Lexus LS and the Jaguar XJ.

  8. CONSUMER REPORTS! the worst entity to ever exist in the history of the world. seriously, Kill yourselves!

  9. we(American) always have something to complain about, the nav, if you use a mouse u can use this

  10. I know it's not a perfect car, and I wouldn't buy one new. But it's very pretty to look at, it's better proportioned than a 5 and from what I read and the most fuel efficient in the segment.
The 50i isn't the best engine BMW makes, but in general I haven't read of much problems with BMW's F01 7.

Looking at the second hand market, a pre fl (which has better steering feedback) looks cheaper than it's rivals, even cheaper than most 5 series for sale, that makes it a lot of bang for the buck.

  11. THE 7 SERIES HAS LOST ITS MOJO. SERIOUSLY, THE 7 SERIES IS LOST IN A POND FILLED WITH HIGH END LUXURY CARS. LEXUS LS 460 AND MERCEDES S550 PRETTY MUCH HAVE THE GRIP ON THE PREMIUM LARGE LUXURY SEDAN. LEXUS LS460 IS THE BEST SELLING PREMIUM LUXURY SEDAN IN THE USA. BMW HAS CLEARLY LOST ITS PURPOSE IN THE AUTO MARKET AS EVIDENCED BY THE POOR PERFORMANCE OF THE 7 SERIES. IT HAS LOST ITS IDENTITY—-NOT SPORTY, NOT SMOOTH, NOT QUIET, NOT COMFORTABLE–BMW 7 SERIES DOES NOTHING WELL.

  12. I happen to like the 7 series, heat/cool seat, night vision, lane departure, heads-up more than enough technology than anything on the market, built like a tank and will last for 10 to 15 years, I've made up mind, I'll get another one, this time the 760li with about 40 to 50 K miles and about 6 or7 years old it will last me 20 years, Heated rear seats with message the entertainment system sold me on one, A car the whole family could enjoy. 140k dollars new and about 50 k used. The price of a Cad.

  13. Hi I wish people would stop listening to these so call Consumer Reports dumb ass.I just pick up my first 2012Bmw750i M-package which is a whole lot of car. These cars are not for sports why say it's not good as sport car. When it's not built for sport but it's give you quick and fast like a sport car.I think 4.8 to hit 60m is pretty fast for a big luxury car every car has what you don't like about it.Why these dumb ass Consumer Report say he didn't like it.Or say nothing every car you can think of always have something wrong with it.By the so call car experts I look on here and get these so call experts talking shit.If he was driving a Lexus,or Audi you'll here the same shit about the two luxury top cars.People please stop listening to these dumb fucks the BMW is a top luxury car.

  14. Is the handling really that bad? Can anyone compare it to the E66?
I remember that feeling stable as hell in the corners and not as cushiony as the Generation after the E65/66

  15. I just scooped up a 2013 750LI xDrive which I absolutely love. This car is kick ass to drive and handles really well.

  16. True, this is a piece of shit car. I spent over 10000$ in the last year on repairs.Do not buy it!!!

  17. really the s class and the a8 feel better to drive? what planet are u on?? ive owned them all. the s class feels heavy and has a ton of body roll. and the a8 is disconected from the road

  18. y own the same car 740 d x drive 2011 end you sir are a fuckin liar and idiot in sport mode it's a different beast

  19. funny how i own this very sedan..yet dont agree with one single complaint consumer report mentioned.. i actualy raced cars in the past and yet find the 7 series to have the right set up for agressive driving and luxury combination..i am completely satisfied with this vehicle..love the i-drive info-tainment system..a breeze to use.

  20. You needed to test drive the M-Sport version, you'd have a completely different take on steering, handling and feedback.
