Fallout 4 is an open world action role-playing video game developed by Bethesda Game Studios and published by Bethesda Softworks. The game is the fifth major installment in the Fallout series, and was released worldwide on November 10, 2015 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

200 years after a nuclear war, Fallout 4 is set in a post-apocalyptic Boston, in which the player character emerges from an underground bunker known as a Vault. Gameplay is similar to Fallout 3. Completing quests and acquiring experience levels up the character, allowing for new abilities. With an optional first- or third-person view, players can explore Fallout 4‍ ’s open world setting at will, allowing nonlinear gameplay. Additional party members can accompany the player, who are able to assist them in battles. Players have the ability to construct and deconstruct buildings and items, and use them to build a settlement, which can attract and be inhabited by non-playable characters.

Fallout 4 was rumored several times prior to the game’s announcement. The game was announced on June 3, 2015, and the first gameplay footage of the game was shown at Bethesda’s own conference at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2015. The game also features full voice acting, the first in the series.

  1. While I admit Fallout 4 is flawed, the amount of original fallout fanboys in the comments is hilarious.

  2. in fallout 3 and new vegas i loved just picking a direction and exploring
in fallout 4 for some reason its just dull and not fun at all and i cant put my finger on it

  3. I preferred the atmosphere of the other games, they felt more apocalyptic and vaults just seemed better

  4. This was my first Fallout game. I played for 8 hours and couldn't take anymore. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't fun or memorable. It's a mediocre rpg, and a mediocre first person shooter.

  5. Why people hate fallout 4 I love it I have played it 200 h more than any games I love it so much

  6. I know that I'm incredibly biased towards Fallout New Vegas because it's my favorite game of all time, but anyway. I thought that fallout 4 was a better shooter but a terrible RPG. Now, I think why Fallout 4 and Fallout New Vegas are so different because of the developers. In Fallout 4 there's never any point where you could actually change any outcomes by using speech or wit. Practically every quest ends up in a gunfight or aggression. The faction system is pretty much a joke because the institute and railroad are portrayed as just the 'scary bad guys who want to do evil' . All of the endings are practically the same and have little variation. Power armor is overpowered as hell, there's only one or two memorable quests, the weapons all feel and play the same, character creation is a fucking joke now and other minor nitpicks. I have invested over 300+ hours into this game, the DLC and mods are great (except Contraptions), add a lot of time to the game. But this game does NOT need a fucking $100 Game Of The Year edition this month. Yet Bethesda fanboys continue to eat it up.

  7. I like Fallout 4 and it is maybe because I did not come to it expecting Fallout 1 or Fallout 2.

  8. Based on my opinions, I really liked this game, but hey, everyone has their own likes and dislikes. To me, fallout new Vegas was really fun but I enjoy a lot more when playing fallout 4 then new Vegas.

  9. With apologies to 1 and 2 (great games but old now and I'm sorry but the combat in those games got tiresome fast.) Anyway Hard core rpg gamers will consider New Vegas to be the best game in the series and will probably consider Fallout 4 to be the worst, whereas casual gamers will have the exact opposite opinion. Unfortunately there are a lot more casual gamers than we hard core types which means a Fallout 4 will always outsell a New Vegas.
Which is for me a shame since it'll probably be ten years (if ever) before another Fallout like New Vegas ever comes out.

  10. ** SPOILER ** The main story killed it for me. I was forced into playing the role of a parent looking for their child and therefore had to go through the very average main quest and ignore the whole premise of fallout which is to find some kind of meaning in the post apocalypse, be it rebuilding civilisation, joining a faction or just exploring. When I found my son it turns out he is dull middle aged man doing just fine and I had no incentive to do anything else.

  11. Geez, you made your character ugly. If that's based on you, or your dad or something, you have my sympathy.

  12. I liked Fallout 4 even though it actually is the most shallow game in the entire series. Even the plot to the first Fallout game was more engaging. Nonetheless, the improvements to the combat and crafting system, plus the inclusion of settlement mode, were enough to keep my attention for a little while. I don't really think I could get into the game again though. None of the Fallout games really make me want to ever come back to them.
