What are plug-ins? Why do I get these pop-ups that ask me install a plug-in? Why do I need Java or Shockwave? Most users struggle for browser issues support, and in the process, spoil their browsing experience. There are simpler ways to go about it. For a start, plug-ins are good. Not only do they make web browsing more interactive, but we need this software to perform essential functions. Java is a programming language, but it is also an embedded application that adds specific abilities to larger programs. For this reason, it is called an applet (a term made popular by PC Magazine in the 90s), a small application that performs one specific task within the scope of a larger program. The Java Virtual Machine, an execution engine that works on the Java platform, needs the Java Plug-in, which enables applets to run in popular browsers, and Java Web Start, which deploys standalone applications over a network.

These plug-ins, along with the Shockwave Player for powerful multimedia playback, allow you to view interactive web content such as games, presentations, entertainment, and advertisements on your web browser. Similarly, the Microsoft Silverlight is also a plug-in for delivering rich interactive applications from the web. These applications are designed to make graphic content, audio and video playback and multimedia content available on the browser. You are required to install certain components that ensure the software is executed identically on every computer. So what do you do when you get a Java error? Call browser technical support?

When you encounter Java errors while running online applications, games, videos, or streaming, you may need to uninstall any old versions of Java because running multiple versions does cause problems. Here are a few ways suggested by web browser technical support that can help you improve the speed and performance of your browser with Java plug-in installed.

Clear the Java cache and remove all cached Java applets.
