Where is your accent from?
I was born and raised in the Netherlands, studied English Literature at Leiden University (also in the Netherlands), studied in the US for 3 months and had lots of American friends, hence the weird accent. I’m definitely not Irish or Canadian, I promise!

Where do you live?
I live in London and have been here for 3.5 years now.

Where do you work?
I’m a Social Media Producer at Penguin Random House UK.

How did you get into publishing?
I did publishing work experience on 3 different occasions, did a lot of networking and learned everything I know about social media from creating and running this channel for 7 years. (P.s. You don’t necessarily have to study Publishing or English to get a job in publishing!).

Can you review my book?
I can’t guarantee that I will, but if you’d like to get in touch, please take a look at my review policy on the ‘About’ page of my channel.

What do you use to film?
I have a Canon 60D with a Tokina 11-16 lens (which is super useful if you want to sit close to your camera and still get a wide shot) and I use a window as my natural lighting. I edit my videos in Final Cut X.

  1. Never knew what the Bechtel test was, but I had heard of it, so now I know. I've been wanting to read Fun Home as well.
I think I'm going to try and get to Blankets sometime after the holiday when it actually snows so it'll put me in the mood for it lol.

  2. Hi , i'm a Italian girl… I love Graphic Novel and I have a question for you.. Can i read these Graphic Novel to improve My English? i have a Basic level English.. thanks a lot 🙂

  3. Thanks for such a great video! I feel like I should really read more graphic novels so I might visit Gosh! soon 🙂

  4. I actually just picked up This One Summer; so much more excited to read it!! Yes for more collabs with Frannerd?? I really want to check out her book.

  5. Liked this video before I even watched it! You two are my favourite youtubers and I didn't even know you were friends! This makes me so happy :')

  6. Thanks to Fran I found that there's something called Booktube! Cool! More stuff to see/listening to when drawing:-)

  7. This One Summer looks gorgeous and yes, I reread books too! Also I was thinking of how, like in Fiona Dunbar's The Truth Cookie, Otto the bookshop keeper says how "books find people, not the other way around"… (^-^)

  8. I'm so glad you made this video because I'm just starting to dip my toe into graphic novels (thanks to your Halloween recommendation of Through the Woods) and I was looking for more suggestions! Multiple people have recommend This One Summer to me, so that one is definitely on my TBR!

  9. "It's difficult to know where to start, with regular novels you start with the classics" -> I have great trouble with this too! I loved your tips Sanne on try some popular stuff, and read a bit then put it down if you don't like it. "Walking into a library blind picking at random" is basically how I feel, but good to know you can keep at it and (re)learn what you like ❤

My partner reads a lot so while i have a big selection to try i tend not to like the ones they likes tho :/
