Hotel Review – Rodeway inn RegaLodge, Glendale CA

I was a bit mixed on this one. The price was fantastic for the area and the room was clean, so in that sense, it accomplished the goal. Though there’s some very questionable maintenance practices and the whole property is quite dated–even for an economy hotel. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend staying here, but at the same time, I wouldn’t steer you away if you got a great deal like I did.

  1. Jacob, how were you exposed to Choice Hotels? Did you stay at them as a kid? I know I did, even though I was born in 1996.

  2. what kind , types of camera , cameras do you use on your Hotel reviews , Car Washes 🙂

  3. You should have stayed at the EconoLodge, it's on the same street about 1 mile away, and it's far better. I've been there in 2012, everything was okay, and there was even a small swimming pool, so it's very nice considering the price of the room.
I LOVE Glendale ! It's like a paradise for me, as more than half of the population is Armenian (I'm Armenian) . You should have tried Armenian restaurants there 🙂

  4. I can't believe this! Your first time coming out to State of California.

  5. For a Rodeway Inn property, it's doable.  Certainly not the worst place, but I can find a bit better.  Do like the closet, good place to stash your suitcase and it's out of your way.

  6. Hey there! Awesome video! When you fly again can you choose Southwest in their new livery? Do you like Southwest and their new livery?

  7. That hotel has been a victim of Handyman Special. It is quite clear that most of the renovations done were by someone who knows very little about what it is he is doing (such as the raceway at the beginning, specifically where it turns a corner). The blue jacuzzi tub probably went with a really sporty looking blue toilet. It should also be worth noting that those switches next to the shower are not waterproof, back when they built bathrooms and such space was not a premium so while it was probably not acceptable, most electricians did it anyways. I am sure the handyman wizard had to take the switches out at some point and forgot how to wire them back up so he attached it in any way that it worked.

  8. Nice review! It might be worthwhile to take off the pillowcases and have a look at the sides of the mattress, too.

  9. I haven't seen a clean hotel room of that era since…well, that era. It has the issues you'd expect of any old building. I could handle staying at this place, with the exception of the towel, which would have been a problem. Well worth the ≤$100 price.

  10. I've stayed at a few hotels rooms like that in my travels. The way I look at it I'm not spending much time in the room anyway cause I'm usually out and about during the day and I'm usually only in the hotel room at night and as long as the bed is comfortable and the ac/heater works and the tv works I'm fine with the way the rest of the hotel room is. But saying that yeah those towels are terrible I've never seen towels like that and I've stayed in a few sketchy hotels rooms in my time.

  11. I quite like the coloured bedspreads, plain white is just too clinical looking.

  12. Wow that's like a 1 in a million find a livable rodeway not infested with mold or falling to bits

  13. great review, honest, highlighting the shortcomings (bathroom area) as well as the things they have done right (bedding). for under $100 a night, its all relative, one cant expect 1000 thread count egyptian linens and a butler service for this price. i think the things that one could expect is a decent bed, as this is probably the most important aspect of the budget traveller, and anything else is a bonus. im not sure if you have considered the la quinta inns and suites chain. its quite good for the money. around $100 a night for substantially better room than rodeway inn and free breakfast.

  14. is the malden ma econolodge version. your room looks nice for the price. tub looks like a skinny jacuzzi.

  15. I'm not totally surprised to see a table lamp and TV bolted down in earthquake country.

  16. I stayed in only one Motel so far, and that was Motel 6 in San Diego. I did not like it at all. The bed sheets were not washed and had brown stains on them. They smelled like hair. There were poop stains on the bottom of the toilet and the room smelled like dog food. Never again will I stay at a Motel after that experience.

  17. This is one of the cheapest hotels in Glendale . lol
How could you possibly complain about it hahahaha
