    Another of your wonderful reviews. Interestingly, this has never previously been one of my favourite films, though I'm a big fan of Gershwin's music, and A Place In The Sun, which you mentioned, always has been one of my favourite films. You will probably know that the latter film was a remake of the 1931 movie American Tragedy. but did you know that the '31 film was loosely based on a true story from the 1900's? Look up the Grace Brown Murder, 1906.

    Your review has made me aware of aspects of An American in Paris that I did not previously know about. I have seen the film a couple of times, but just couldn't get into it. However that might change. I couldn't get into Singing In The Rain until about a year ago, (that sounds sacreligious, doesn't it?) though I had seen it many times, but now I love it. I may get hold of A A in P and give it another chance…
