With the shared unveiling of Nokia’s Lumia 720 and Lumia 520, the company’s running flush of Windows Phone 8 models was complete. All WP8 handsets we’ve reviewed essentially fit into two distinct tiers based on shared core specs. That begs the question: why come out with two new models now when both share the same SoC, amount of RAM and screen resolution as the established Lumia 620 and HTC 8S? Obviously, there are differences in design, cameras, display tech and all the other bobs and bits that create the 720, but is it worth the significant markup over the 620, and more than double the price of a 520 or Huawei Ascend W1?

  1. I totally agree with this, I've had a fair share of phones and somehow always end up reverting back to windows phone; even my budget htc 8s had less lag than my iPhone 4s, and also my htc one x. It is about the UI and the phone's ecosystem, not about the specs.

  2. Not "laggy", but it is less responsive. I am a daily android user for the last 3 years, a wide variety of different phones and ROMs. I love it – but I also love my Lumia 620. I wanted to try it to find out just how terrible it is…but it is great. Much much smoother than any of my Android phones, very good battery life, hasn't let me down at all. If one just wants to "use" their phone as such with extras – Lumias with WP8 are great, better than any Nexus or other Android phone.

  3. Sadly, Lumia 720 is not a good example for screen display quality and image sensor. Sure, windows phone is indeed smoother compared to more than half of the Android phones out there. With that said, Snapdragon S3 SoCs is an utterly failure pretty much like how I see Tegra 3. None of the Windows Phones 8 flagships have expandable storage anymore. To top that up, I still can't find proper my favourite Android app replacement in the Windows Phone. I switched back from Lumia 920 to Galaxy S2.

  4. I don't think that the specs are low end at all. I think the software is being coded with arse.

  5. Lumia 720 is way better i assure you, i have one and its really works good than Samsung s4 and iphone 4. The camera is way better than Samsung and iphone phones but still its up to you :))

  6. bought this last july. very fluid phone no hiccups on the interface with just 512 ram. compare to my samsung phone with quadcore specs ill get like 2 phone restarts a day and tons of ads every minute on my phones notification. i think those thousand apps half of them are malwares!! i dnt know what app to delete now to stop the ads.. just my point of view. having much apps will just give u headaches..

  7. If you plan on doing a lot of gaming, you might stay away from it. But in other cases I wouldn't worry too much. I bought mine because the specs are good enough, I need something that won't need charging every day and this device just oozes a sense of build quality. Crucially, the Huawei that they're comparing the L720 with only has 4GBs of storage – which is just too little.

The weird thing is that I played Asphalt 7 on my L720 with no problem, while the video showed that it needed 1GB…
