  1. Do you think this adaptation was better than the one we got in, I think, 2003? I personally enjoyed that one. I can't recall any actors names but it's good I think. The 1953 movie will of course be the best adapted. Thanks for the review!!

  2. Oh that's a bummer that the dark storyline really ruined this movie. I'm still gonna check it out. It looks like a fun movie and I will definitely see it in 3D when it comes to my cinema on October 9th.

  3. Idk if you still watch honest trailers but the one they did for Disney's Peter Pan is one of their best in weeks

  4. Great review Adelle! I've been so curious about this film since it was announced. Even though I haven't heard many good things, I'm still going to check it out but at matinee. And you can never go wrong with Hugh Jackman! He's the man!

  5. I was looking forward to seeing this movie and probably still will simply for the stunning cinematography. It's nice to know the 3D is worth it. Thanks for the review.

  6. Do you think it was that the film didn't meet expectations or the darker content just doesn't fit with Neverland? We have had a lot of family friendly adaptations of Peter Pan but I think there has always been some hints or elements of darker stuff in the source material. I could be wrong but I always thought the refusal to grow up and isn't Peter a bit of a bully to the other lost boys sometimes suggested there might be a darker side to the story.

  7. I loved the trailers of this movie, and i love the Pan story to. I've seen the Disney cartoon version a lot, i also own the sequel on VHS, i also saw the 2003 live action version in theater and i love the Robin Williams Hook movie! And i'm also a big fan of Hugh Jackman (who looks so creepy and unrecognisable as Blackbeard) so i was looking forward to this movie and i'm bummed that you didnt like it.

But if i have the time and money i'm still gonna see this in theater. Even if its only for the visuals. I have 1 question though. How is Garret Hedlund as Hook? I know its a prequel but he doesnt remind me of Hook at all. And i dont know why they need Hook in this movie because you already have Blackbeard.

  8. Thanks for the review. It's a shame the storyline didn't work for you as I thought a darker twist might be a good take on the previous 'commercial' adaptations. Will still see it though as Hugh Jackman sounds amazing and the escapism into this world would be exciting. Take care and hope to see you again soon

  9. I think the story of Peter Pans just inherently has this upbeat, feel good vibe to it. I mean its about fairies and flying and magic! It must be heard trying to see it in a darker gloomy tone. I still want to check it out though

  10. Not sure what movie you saw but I thought Jackman was pretty ordinary in this.Garret Hedlund was truly awful though.

  11. You have the Pan necklace! That's so cool! Awesome review! You told it really well and I love your points. I loved Hugh Jackman in it, but I was confused on how he knew the songs he was making everyone chant. I also feel like the colour they used in the village disassociated from the violence in a weird way. Like it was trying to make the death cheerful? Still really enjoyed the movie but not what I was expecting.

  12. Another visually gorgeous Peter Pan movie that, unlike this one, actually has a good story and interesting, complex characters is the 2003 adaptation. I highly recommend it. It is criminally underrated, but I think it's the best Peter Pan movie out there.

  13. Wow, Great review! You wear your heart on your sleave and it's very easy to relate. You aren't as factually opinionated as most reviewers – Ie you state the facts and your opinions separately not your opinion as fact. Thanks for the awesome review! Still a little confused whether to watch it or not.. Maybe I'll catch some of it on Netflix.

  14. Yesterday i watched Pan because i felt depressed and i just wanted to see a bad movie clearly i made the right choice.
For a big budget movie, this movie is horrible, unlikable characters, very annoying main character and the villain is laughable.
That old nun was far more scarier than the actual villain and i forgot to mention that indian village looked more like a circus than a village.
Positives i liked Captain Hook and singing smells like teen spirit was funny.
