Rolls-Royce Phantom 2018 Review | The best car in the world? | Autocar

The name Rolls-Royce defines luxury, and the Rolls-Royce Phantom is the pinnacle of Rolls’ own range. Subscribe now: http://smarturl.it/autocar

This £360,000 luxury saloon is the king of wafting. There’s more than 130kg of soundproofing, the interior is lined with hectares of leather, carpets thick enough to tickle your ankles, and whatever kinds of trim you can dream up.

Power comes from a 6.75-litre, twin-turbocharged V12 whose power is entirely secondary to the huge reserves of torque, developed so low down in the rev range that you hardly need to put any effort in to get imperious cruising potential.

Join us as tests the new Rolls-Royce Phantom and decides whether it’s still the most luxurious car on the planet.

  1. This is a great review of the Phantom. I absolutely loved the scenery in the background, made the vehicle look like it was floating. Loved it!

  2. In twenty years or so Cars will become "White goods" like a Fridge or a washing Machine, something we take for granted, it doesn't need to look flashy or do anything amazing, it just has to work every time, transport in the future will be the same, something we might own and when we need it we push a few buttons and it takes us there, no fuss no problem, no need to interact with it other than when we leave or arrive,Car makers today might in the future be Samsung or Google, or Dyson, brands like Ford, Vauxhall Ferrari even might not be desirable like now, yes, I think. Transport could might make be like this.

  3. Boring review, how about showing us some of the stuff on the car, the gadgets and other bits and pieces.

  4. Why so much talk of luxury? There's so much more to this car than mere luxury which, to be fair, was touched on briefly. There's the heritage, the history, the exclusivity and prestige that is RR. I think that those things have, over time, defined luxury itself. Luxury is more than just comfortable seats or a quiet cabin or a lot of leg room. Those things are quite tangible and fairly easily replicated in other vehicles. What can't be replicated is the intangible aura that comes with that name, Rolls Royce. You simply can't buy that anywhere else…at all. Even if the cheeky bastards at Hyundai decide to put that same emblem on the front of one of their cars, on top of a big vertical bar grille, it will mean precisely shit because no matter how good the car behind it is, it won't say Rolls Royce.
