*ABOUT THE AUTHOR*

Jane Austen was an English novelist known primarily for her six major novels, which interpret, critique and comment upon the British landed gentry at the end of the 18th century. Austen’s plots often explore the dependence of women on marriage in the pursuit of favourable social standing and economic security. Her works critique the novels of sensibility of the second half of the 18th century and are part of the transition to 19th-century literary realism.

With the publications of Sense and Sensibility (1811), Pride and Prejudice (1813), Mansfield Park (1814) and Emma (1815), she achieved success as a published writer. She wrote two additional novels, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, both published posthumously in 1818, and began another, eventually titled Sanditon, but died before its completion. Her novels have rarely been out of print, although they were published anonymously and brought her little fame during her lifetime. [1]

  1. Hi! I wanted to make up for the lack of a video last Wednesday (I had an exam in neuropsychology yesterday and very little time to film and edit) so I will upload a video today and on Sunday! 🙂

But I hope you enjoyed this little video. If you have any questions then please leave a comment. Otherwise, thank you so much for watching and have a good day!

  2. A great video. Not my kind of literature, but a nice looking edition. Slipcases are great.

  3. I love this edition! I haven't got it because I wanted to see how many Austen works FS releases in the current collection. Still, I'm always tempted to buy this one…

  4. A Pontus video on Friday and on Sunday? What kind of heaven is this? 😉 I hope your exam went well!

I'm always a bit weary of books including so many different titles due to the text size and paper quality or tedious reading. Good to see this is sown instead of glued, the book seems to open well (way better than my old Jane Austen Wordsworth edition). Will you be using this edition for reading (kind of a weird question, I know. Asking mainly because of the size)?

We can shake hands on the FS Austen series, couldn't have said it better myself!

  5. Very beautiful book. I have this edition to. There is also a beautiful barnes and nobles leatherbound edition in lightblue. I just had to have them both she was a master author.

  6. Nice review!  Personally, I am collecting the current FS series, which I will be finishing up with soon, but its nice to see different options.

  7. This is the exact copy i was looking into.. thank you for helping me decide to go ahead with my purchase. Awesome review 😊

  8. Hello, I’ve been looking for a short complete collection of Jane Austen. Would you say that this book is thicker rather than longer
